COMMISSIONING
PHOTOGRAPHY

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
~ Pablo Picasso

I compose stenciled collages filled with photographs of various materials, digitally composited using hundreds of layers to illustrate the crux of my subjects. Within them, are nuances revealed as subtle glimpses into unusual narratives illuminating the expanse of my imagination. The result is an emotional, provocative, and mesmerizing portrait which may resemble the feeling of looking into the depths of one’s soul.

Patroning Art is an Investment

I accept a limited number of private commissions each year. Read below for information about price and my art process.

Art Process

 1. Review

The commission process begins with a review of what the patron desires as a final render. Gathering ideas; for scene elements, color schemes, emotional response, sizing, textures and print finish.

2. Agreement

Contracts are very necessary and protect both the patron and artist alike. Our agreement may cover payment terms, production schedule, framing, delivery, installation, insurance copyrights, licencing, and exclusivity.

3. Photo Source

The foundation of my art technique requires source imagery.
I can photograph people, objects and environments, use royalty free stock and or high resolution images provided by the patron.

4. Composition

After gathering all the source imagery, I separate each element
to compose a final reference for review. Only in this stage may the patron request a minor adjustments before approving a final rendering.

 5. Stenciling

After the composed reference is approved and finalized.
I de-saturate the image,
and build an achromatic multi-layered hierarchical map of light to shadow as vector stencils.

6. Collaging

Finally I digitally collage, compositing with textures of various photographed materials, surfaces. Filling each stencil with thousands of colorful pixels polished to perfection.

When the painting is completed, it's presented to the patron.
I'll provide several printing,
framing and installation options to choose from. Or the patron can keep the painting as an image to display on digital canvases, devices and social media.

I felt like art, loved and appreciated. Therefore I became art; a Mona Lisa. LP drew my inner light and grind as an artist myself. He saw what the world wouldn't slow down to see in me."

"His style is so different and vibrant. He captured an essence that I, myself, rarely got to see. LP sees through the surface. He accented my arms, my chest, my crown, and brow; there was a penetrating energy of endurance and wisdom. I thought, this woman, she must know all about the stars; she's a mother to many life forms."

"For LP Ǽkili Ross to paint you and see you. I had a tingly feeling in my brain. It's weird, but it felt good."
