Art is my first language

"I don't think about art when I'm working. I try to think about life." ~
Jean-Michel Basquiat

As a digital artist, my eyes are trained on what's coming next. I began working with pixels over 2 decades ago, when the art was still in its infancy. As the digital medium has expanded I have grown along with it, embracing it as part of my generational identity. I do not translate from another medium, or attempt to fit in with the crowd. I begin and end in the digital world which renders my art completely digestible in its final form.

PROCESS

Stencil Collage Sketches in various stages of production.

Everything I create comes from something else, recycling, recreating it in another original form.

Once a scene is digitally composed, it is then desaturated to black and white to clearly discern all the subtleties of light and shadow at play. Each layer is cut in juxtaposition to the layer before it, curves followed by sharp corners followed by deckled edges.
All of these distinct shapes layered upon each other create new elements and a harmony within themselves none could achieve on their own. There can be up to 250 stencil layers in a given composition.
